By mid-2024, Generative AI had become impossible to ignore — every engineering team we worked with had questions, and the conversations ranged from genuinely curious to outright overwhelmed. For our May Architecture Guild session, we decided to tackle it head-on and build a proper foundation before the hype got any louder.
The session covered the core concepts underpinning Generative AI — from how large language models are trained, to what’s happening under the hood when you send a prompt, to how to start thinking about where these tools genuinely add value versus where the limitations matter. The goal was to leave the room with a shared vocabulary and a grounded understanding — not just the marketing pitch.
